- ...“I’m struggling to get ideas & confidence.”
- ...“I can’t focus, it’s hard to know what I really want.”
- ...“There’s no motivation, I’m feeling numb.”
Does the above statements sound familiar? Well, then chances are, you’re facing a CREATIVE BLOCK.
Creative blocks, or barriers to inspiration, can be described as the inability to access one’s internal creativity. Writers, musicians, performers, artists—are often more likely to be affected by creative blocks, which can last for days, weeks, months, or even years.
Major Causes of CREATIVE BLOCK
- Self doubt.
- Comparing with others.
- Personal problems.
- Creative burnout.
- Repeated rejections.
These are some of the few reasons you’re facing a creative block. And if you notice, most of them are internal factors rather external. Which calls for ‘ACTION’.
CREATIVE BLOCK IS NOT A MYTH. ACT ON IT!
How to overcome CREATIVE BLOCK?
- Take a break. UNWIND.
The first approach should be to pause for a moment and take a break. Spend more time with friends/family. Stay away from your usual routine and just unwind from all the noise.
- Do what excites & inspires you.
Keeping work aside, pick up things that excite & inspire you. It can be a hobby/leisure/activity. Something that sparks excitement, inspiration and happiness in its own way.
- Give yourself some “ME TIME”.
Working on too many projects at once can suffocate your creativity. If you're feeling burned out, make some time for yourself and give yourself some quality time
- Face your fears.
Face your fears, whatever they may be. Whatever it is that you’re afraid of, do that thing. Even if it has nothing to do with creativity.
- If it’s outta control, consult a therapist.
If nothing seems to work and it’s getting worse, don’t be hesitant to consult a therapist. It’ll help you get a new perspective and in turn help in starting fresh.
All that being said. It looks completely different for everyone. Something that works for me, might not work for you. Take your time and unwind. Don't let these factors come in the way of your creative process. FACE IT & OVERCOME IT! YOU CAN DO IT!
